Layer: Vulnerable areas (<5 ft GWD) with 4 feet of SLR (ID: 2)

Name: Vulnerable areas (<5 ft GWD) with 4 feet of SLR

Display Field: Id

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: Groundwater modeling was used to simulate the effects of sea-level rise on groundwater levels in the New Hampshire Seacoast. The MODFLOW-USG Transport model (Panday, 2022) was used to simulate groundwater flow and saltwater intrusion in these communities. This map shows vulnerable areas where the groundwater depth is currently less than 5 ft. The colors show the projected magnitude of groundwater rise under 4 ft of sea-level rise. Shallow and surface infrastructure, including pavements in these areas, is the most vulnerable to rising groundwater from sea-level rise and from heavy rainfall events.
